Leaf Collection Information
If there is any thing we have in abundance in Medford Lakes, its leaves. In 1997, the Borough disposed of more than 5,359 cubic yards of leaves. And they just keep coming! But, on the bright side, they provide us with cool shade in the summer and lots of exercise in the fall raking them up!
All kidding aside, you can do yourself and the Borough a favor by composting leaves in place in a section of your property. Youll save yourself the trouble of clearing leaves from those areas and save the Taxpayers the expense of Leaf Disposal.
Leaf collection begins on the main thorofares of the Borough (Stokes, Tabernacle and Tuckerton Roads as well as Lenape and Mohawk Trails) and then proceeds by voting district. Each fall the order of the voting districts is rotated so that no particular district is always first or last collected.
Vacuumed Leaf Collections - Collected in the Spring (April) and in the Fall (November). Leaves must be raked as close as possible to the roadway in a visible location. No leaf piles behind obstacles (such as trees, cars, fences, mailboxes, etc.).
Bagged Leaf Collections - Collected twice during the Summer (June and August). Leaves must be in bags that are left opened. No bags of leaves behind obstacles (such as trees, cars, fences, mailboxes, etc.).
LEAVES MUST BE OUT BY THE COLLECTION DATE TO ENSURE THAT THEY WILL BE PICKED UP.
Brush Collection Information
Stick and stones may break your bones, but the Borough only collects the sticks! In a town with as many trees as Medford Lakes, you can be sure we have a lot of brush. Especially after a big storm. For this reason we pickup brush at trail side several times a year.
Brush can be NO longer than 4 feet in length. Brush should be placed on the ground, as close to the road as possible, in a visible location. Brush will no be collected if behind obstacles (trees, mailboxes, cars, fences, etc.). Brush will not be accepted in bags of any type. Collections are in the months of January, March, June, August and October.
This year a new piece of equipment was added to provide additional brush removal and chipping capabilities. Brush can now be chipped trail side and left for the home owner for landscaping on site or the chippings can be stored at the Public Works facility for residents to use.
BRUSH MUST BE OUT BY THE COLLECTION DATE TO ENSURE THAT IT WILL BE PICKED UP.
