How do I get a marriage license?

A marriage license may be obtained in the Borough office during business hours, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. According to New Jersey State Law, the couple must apply for a license in the municipality where the bride resides. If the bride is from another state, than they may must apply where the groom resides. If both are from out of state and are to be married in Medford Lakes, then they must apply for the license in Medford Lakes.

According to state law they will need a witness to accompany the couple. The witness may be a family member, but must be 18 years of age or older. State law also requires that the Borough hold the application for 72 hours before issuing the license. The license is then good for 30 days. Cost of a Marriage License is $28.00.

The person performing the ceremony must file the license with the Registrar of the municipality in which the marriage was performed.
